US Chess Titles Approved in Astana

The following US Chess members had their titles approved at FIDE’s 1st Quarter Presidential Board Meeting 2019.  This PB meeting was held March 4-6, alongside the recently concluded World Team Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan. GM – Nicolas Checa (New York) GM – Michael W Brown (Utah) – pending 60 day waiting period IM – Justin Wang (Texas) IM – Andrew Hong (California) IM – Christopher Yoo (California) Congratulations to these players! Other decisions taken by FIDE’s Presidential Board can be found on the FIDE website.

Who are the new FIDE Masters and new FIDE Candidate Masters from the continental United States? Surely they deserved mentioning in this article.

Where are all the norm winners/titled players from the North American Youth and Junior held from November 16-21 in Baja California, Mexico? It has been more than 3 month already! •Rochelle Wu earned a WGM norm for winning the Girls Under 20 •Bryce Tiglon earned a GM norm by winning the Open Under 20 •Annie Wang earned an IM norm and silver medal in the Open Under 20 •Anthony He earned an IM norm and bronze medal in the Open Under 20 •Ladia Jirasek earned an IM title by winning the Under 18
