National invitational schedules:

The National State Invitationals are annual events held in conjunction with the U.S. Open, in which the 52 champions of the 51 state affiliates and of the District of Columbia compete to determine the seven national champions of state champions:

The John T. Irwin National Tournament of Senior State Champions has determined the Irwin national champion since 2018. The tournament is named in memory of John T. Irwin (1940-2019): English professor, literary historian, and poet.
The GM Arnold Denker National Tournament of High School State Champions has determined the Denker national champion since 1985. The tournament is named for its founder, Grandmaster Arnold Denker (1914-2005).
The Dewain Barber National Tournament of Middle School State Champions has determined the Barber national champion since 2011. The tournament is named for Dewain Barber: author, coach, tournament organizer, and scholastic official.
The WIM Ruth Haring National Tournament of Girls State Champions has determined the Haring national champion since 2013. The tournament is named in memory of Women's International Master Ruth Haring (1955-2018), former US Chess President.
The John D. Rockefeller III National Tournament of Elementary School State Champions has determined the Rockefeller national champion since 2020. The tournament is named in memory of John D. Rockefeller III (1906-1978), philanthropist.
The GM Maurice Ashley National Tournament of K-3 State Champions has determined the Ashley national champion since 2026. The tournament is named for Grandmaster Maurice Ashley, the world's first Black GM.
The FM Sunil Weeramantry National Blitz Tournament of State Champions has determined the Weeramantry national champion since 2020. The tournament is named for FIDE Master Sunil Weeramantry: author, coach, tournament organizer, and scholastic official.
