Event Photography
We are thrilled to have David Llada on site taking photos for all seven days of this event. His photos have often appeared in Chess Life and he has taken chess photos around the world in such exotic locations as Shanghai, Las Vegas, New York, Moscow, Istanbul, and Zurich.
Many of Llada's photos will be shared during the event on Chess Life Online, US Chess's social media accounts, and Llada's X account. More will be shared after the event on our website and in Chess Life magazine.
Llada will primarily be taking photographs of players on the top board, plus anything else that catches his eye. But if you want to guarantee that you get your photo taken during one of the rounds of the U.S. Open, read on:
Support Team USA and Get a Chess Portrait
US Chess is currently raising funds for Team USA's trip to Samarkand, Uzbekistan in September for the 46th Chess Olympiad. Read more about our campaign here.
Anybody playing in the U.S. Open who has donated a total of at least $50 to this campaign who wants to get their chess portrait taken by David Llada — and the picture(s) shared with them — follow these steps:

- Specify which section of the U.S. Open you are playing, and whether you are registered for any byes.
- Note whether you would just like pictures emailed to you, or if you would also like your picture included in social media and/or web posts about this campaign.
