Chess is a Game for Life
Partnering with US Chess is an effective way to reach
at-risk-youth and give them the opportunity to seize their potential!
Chess players are taught to think critically, plan their moves, and execute their strategy. These skills serve players for life. Students who play chess often find greater educational opportunities. Chess can “break the cycle” for disadvantaged youth. Chess players follow many career paths, but STEM fields are particularly popular. Math, engineering, finance, and computer science are well-represented within our community.
Chess also offers important mentoring opportunities for kids that are in need of direction and guidance at a critical time in their lives – when peer pressure is intense and positive influence is greatly needed. It offers a sense of belonging and inclusion to a community focused on resilience and personal growth.
Chess welcomes all genders, races, socioeconomic statuses, and physical abilities.
Making a gift to At-Risk-Youth and Title I schools provides everything young players will need to compete in local and national chess tournaments. This includes covering the costs of US Chess membership fees, chess equipment, tournament registration fees, chess instruction, as well as the costs to travel to national tournaments. But even more importantly, your gift will provide an experience that can change lives!
