In the July issue I was…
In the July issue I was delighted to see the picture of the Cadets from West Point and the Midshipmen from Annapolis. More than 50 years ago, when I was a senior at the Naval Academy, I was president of the USNA chess club, and I organized and participated in what I believe to be the first ever chess competition between the US Naval Academy and the US Military Academy. Although I'm sure it has not been an uninterrupted annual event, I'm glad to see that 50 years later the Cadets and Midshipmen are still competing with each other over the chess board!
