Please also share this invitation to your board or state chapter leadership who might be interested in attending.

This inaugural session will feature two of the most respected voices in U.S. chess:

  • Sunil Weeramantry: FIDE Master and founding director of the National Scholastic Chess Foundation. Sunil has been a leading force in scholastic chess for decades, coaching hundreds of champions and serving as an early mentor to GM Hikaru Nakamura.
  • Franc Guadalupe: current Interim Executive Director of US Chess, past Tournament Director of the Year, and an experienced International Arbiter and Organizer. Franc has overseen countless national events and brings deep expertise in volunteer development and tournament leadership.

Together, they will share strategies and lessons learned on:

  • Finding and supporting Tournament Directors
  • Recruiting, retaining, and resources for Board Members and Committee Members
  • Building sustainable volunteer engagement pipelines

There will also be time for Q&A so state chapters can share their own experiences and ask questions.

This is the first in a series of quarterly webinars to support state chapters. Recordings will be available on the US Chess website for future reference.
