Volunteers Wanted for 2026 National Elementary School Championships

US Chess is seeking volunteers to assist at the 2026 National Elementary School Championships from April 30 through May 3 in Baltimore, MD. If you’re a local chess enthusiast, seeking national event experience, or an attendee with a few hours to spare, we could use your help!

Volunteers must:

Be over 18
Complete the free SafeSport Volunteer training course (if not already SafeSport certified)
Pass a background check
US Chess membership not required, but preferred.

Volunteers have a variety of roles which can change from event to event. Examples of past duties performed by volunteers include:

Trophy setup and take down
Chess board set up and take down
Monitoring and assisting with pedestrian traffic flow
Supporting Tournament Directors
