US Chess Seeks a Ratings and Technical Manager

US Chess is hiring a Ratings and Technical Manager, a 40+ hour position with US Chess. This position is responsible for event ratings, overseeing various scholastic chess programs including oversight of US Open invitationals administration, scholastic awards, and various other duties. 

 

Job Title: Ratings & Technical Manager

Job Type: Exempt

Hours: Full Time (40+ hours/week, with some weekends and evenings)

Location: Base is Crossville, Tennessee; Teleworking Allowed

Reports to: Director of Events

 

Overview of Responsibilities

·         Provide customer support for TD/Affiliate Support area, rating report submissions/corrections and user and affiliate account access.

·         Produce monthly Top Players lists, maintain standings for US Chess Grand Prix and Junior Grand Prix events and coordinate the Certified Chess Coach program.

·         Maintain the list of chess scholarships posted at USChess.org.

·         Coordinate the Scholar-Chessplayer Award and US Chess All-America Team programs in coordination with our partners. 

·         Serve as the primary administrative point of contact for the US Open invitationals.

·         Assess foreign player rating report and adjust US Chess ratings as specified by US Chess rules or make appropriate recommendations to the Director of Events.

·         Providing staff liaison support to other various US Chess committees and functions as assigned.

·         Assist with initial analysis and processing of formal complaints.

·         Other projects as assigned by the Director of Events.

 

Requirements

·         US Chess rating.

·         US Chess local tournament director (LTD) certification, or higher.

·         Proficiency with US Chess rules for players, directors, organizers, and tournaments.

·         Excellent customer service skills that highlight strong written and verbal communication, diplomacy, rapid response, teamwork and ability to think on one’s feet.

 

Preferences

·         Bachelors’ degree.

·         Experience with US Chess back-end administrative systems and procedures.

·         Experience in processing US Chess rating reports.

·         Experience in analyzing US Chess rating data.
