Phiona "Queen of Katwe" Mutesi Visits Our Girls Club and Madwoman Book Club

Phiona "The Queen of Katwe" Mutesi visited our US Chess Girls Club in February. She spoke about a beautiful win she scored at the 2010 Olympiad in Khanty Mansisyk, which showed the power of a knight over a bishop.

Phiona also spoke about her favorite scenes from the Queen of Katwe, and the moments she skips. She emphasized the importance of a fighting spirit both on and off the chess board, and the strong relationships with her mother and coach that led her to great success. She also discussed her plans after graduating Northwest University in May.

On Friday February 26th, Phiona will also appear at our Madwoman's Book Club. Adult and teen females can sign up here.
