US Chess Seeks Program Coordinator

Position Title: Program Coordinator
Department: Programs
FLSA: Non-Exempt, 20 hours/week
Reports to: Women’s Program Director
Location: St. Louis, Missouri (or remote for exceptional candidate)

Position Overview: The Program Coordinator is a front-line member/customer service role. Individuals must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. This is a position with growth potential for the right candidate.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Outreach to nonprofit organizations that target girls and/or underserved communities to set up introductory classes and accomplish broader outreach goals.
  • Assist in hosting and organizing online girls club events and programs. Opportunities to guest host the Ladies Knight podcast or online girls club events and programs.
  • Filter requests for US Chess Women, including media and program requests, and grant application questions. 
  • Help with communication and outreach for online chess classes and for live girls and women’s events.
  • Promote US Chess Women activities and assets/clips on our website and social media. Volume and platforms as suited to the candidate.
  • Help manage grant and equipment/membership distribution programs, including setting up applications and deadlines, monitoring the application process, answering questions and requesting paperwork and program updates.
  • Monitor grant reporting requirements for both grantees and to grantmaking organizations.
  • Process invoices and and associated paperwork for grant programs, guests and coach reimbursements.  
  • Give suggestions on how to meet our goals to attract and retain more females and gender minorities into chess, more underserved youth, individuals with diabilities, seniors, and other under-represented populations.

Our office is accessible by St. Louis Metrolink, in the Union Station complex.  Parking also available.
