Introducing TD Upgrades Chart

There's no tournament chess without tournament directors (TDs). Fortunately, it's easy to apply to become a Club TD and begin running tournaments.

However, there are limitations on the size and scope of tournaments that Club TDs can run, as detailed in the TD Certification Rules. For larger events, TDs must work their way up the ladder by accumulating experience and passing exams.

A lot of this work is invisible to most chessplayers. But if you've ever played in a national event, a tournament awarding US Chess Grand Prix points, or a tournament with more than 60 players, that event only existed because at least one TD put in the hours to upgrade their TD certification.

This year, we have been tracking all US Chess TD upgrades as a way to highlight and bring more awareness and appreciation to the work that these TDs do for the chess community. So congratulations to the TDs that have upgraded and thank you for the continued work you do.

The chart will live here and be updated monthly.
