Interest Survey Open for 2nd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities

US Chess Interest Survey Open for 2nd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities. The international event, organized by FIDE, and hosted by the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, will take place October 19 - October 26, in Astana, Kazakhstan.

US Chess will be accepting interest registrations for eligible U.S. participants until Friday, September 12, 5PM Central time.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS AND ELIGIBILITY

Each event will be an 6-round Swiss system tournament, using a time control of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves plus 30 minutes, plus an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move one.

All U.S. participants are required to having the following:

  • A current US Chess membership, valid through the end of the tournament (US Chess membership at least until October 31, 2025).
  • A U.S.A.-flagged FIDE ID. (If you do not currently have a FIDE ID, please complete our FIDE ID Request Form at https://forms.gle/fCCTis7WgtJEb2rv6)

INTEREST REGISTRATION INFORMATION - DEADLINE IS September 12!

US Chess is accepting interest entries for eligible U.S. players until Friday, September 12, 2025, 5:00 p.m. CDT. Interested and eligible U.S. players must register with US Chess to participate. No interest registrations will be accepted after September 12, 2025. The September 12 deadline is set to provide for administrative actions to meet the organizers' deadline.

Upon completion of the registration form, US Chess will notify the top 5 players based on July 2025 rating that they will be part of Team USA going to the 2nd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities. 

ACCOMMODATIONS

From Article 5 of the Event Regulations:

"5. TRAVEL AND ACCOMODATION FOR INVITED PARTICIPANTS
A. The Organizer is financially responsible for free single or double (matter of arrangement) minimum 4-star hotel accommodation with free FB – breakfast, lunch and dinner for a total of 6 people – “invited participants” from arrival day (October 19th) to departure day (October 26th). Soft drinks, tea/coffee is included in the FB offer.
B. The Organizer shall cover the travel expenses of all “invited participants” of participating teams.
C. If any team violates the registration deadline, the Organizer has the right not to provide the invited team with free accommodation and/or free air-tickets.
D. The Organizer is responsible for the transportation of the invited participants from the local airport to the hotel on arrival day and back to the local airport on departure day."

Any and all additional expenses, such as bring extra accompanying persons, extra nights, is the responsibility of the player.

All players will be required to sign a waiver for participation before their entry into the tournament is confirmed. Please visit the USA State Department's Travel Advisory website for the latest information regarding traveling to Kazakhstan.
