FIDE and the Peruvian Chess Sports Federation have announced the 2024 World School Chess Championships will be held from April 30 - May 10, 2024 at the Regional Sports Village of Callao, in Lima, Peru.
There will be 12 sections in the tournament, Open and Girls for each age category: Under 17, Under 15, Under 13, Under 11, Under 9 and Under 7. A player's age as of January 1, 2024 determines their age eligibility for a section.
Players entitled to participate in each category are:
- Under 07: Players born on or after 1 January 2017
- Under 09: Players born on or after 1 January 2015
- Under 11: Players born on or after 1 January 2013
- Under 13: Players born on or after 1 January 2011
- Under 15: Players born on or after 1 January 2009
- Under 17: Players born on or after 1 January 2007
Direct titles shall be awarded according to the FIDE regulations and the complete regulations for the event can be viewed at Event Regulations.
TOURNAMENT DETAILS
Each event will be nine rounds, using a time control of Game/90 minutes with a 30-second increment. The full schedule for all rounds can be viewed on page three of the Event Regulations.
ACCOMMODATION
All participants must stay in the official hotel booked through US Chess. The organizer offers the following accommodation options, all for 9 nights (April 30 - May 10) with meals included at the Hotel Melia Lima (5 stars):
- $1322.00/person in a single room, 1 person
- $1061.00/person in a double room, 2 people
- $1000.00/person in a triple room, 3 people
The organizers will provide transportation from airport-hotel-airport (Jorge Chavez International Airport (Code: LIM) on arrival and departure dates only for players and accompanying persons.
REGISTRATION - DEADLINE IS MARCH 24!
US Chess is accepting entries for USA players up until Sunday, March 24, 2024, 5PM Central. This deadline is imposed due to the organizers' registration deadline of March 29, 2024.

Once you have completed the form, US Chess will send you an invoice which must be paid no later than Monday, March 25, 2024, 5PM Central.
The following fees will be charged:
- Tournament Registration Fee - $130.00/player
- FIDE Entry Fee - $45.00/player
- Special Fee for Accompanying Persons - $90.00/accompanying person
- US Chess Administrative Fee - $200.00/player
A current US Chess membership through the end of the tournament (May 2024) is required for all USA participants. A USA-flagged FIDE ID is required for all USA players. If you do not currently have a FIDE ID, please complete our FIDE ID Request Form at https://forms.gle/fCCTis7WgtJEb2rv6.
WAIVERS
While US Chess has to collect registrations on behalf of our federation and submit them to the organizer, we cannot accept responsibility for the health and well being of any players who choose to travel to this event. As such, all players will be required to sign a waiver for participation before their entry into the tournament is confirmed. Please check out the USA State Departments Travel Advisory website for the latest information regarding traveling to Peru.
