2023-2024 Travel Grants Application Announcement

US Chess is pleased to announce the 2024 program to financially support eligible Affiliates serving Title I Schools to attend US Chess-run National Scholastic Events. Requests for both full and partial support applications will be considered.

Piloted at the 2022 National High School Championship, US Chess sponsored a 21-player team that experienced the thrill of competition, meeting peers from across the country, and for many, leaving the familiarity of their home city for the first time.

In 2023, six teams were sponsored to attend one of the three spring scholastic national events. The players not only gained fresh insights into their game and themselves, they also experienced the excitement of travelling to new cities and broadening their horizons in ways never before imagined. You can hear about the experiences of some of these players on the US Chess YouTube channel.

This program is part of US Chess’s commitment to improving access among underrepresented communities and reducing financial barriers to participation in national events.
