2022 Sinquefield Cup Begins Friday

If you still haven’t gotten your end-of-summer fix of super-grandmaster chess with the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz this past weekend, the Saint Louis Chess Club brings you the 2022 Sinquefield Cup!

The opening ceremony for this annual, invite-online elite tournament begins Thursday, Sept. 1, with first round contests beginning at 1 p.m. CT on Friday, Sept. 2. Rounds will continue as late as Sept. 12, if playoffs are required.

The format for the event is a round robin with 10 of the world’s strongest players competing for $350,000 in prizes. All games will be played at 90 minutes for 40 moves, and 30 minutes for the rest of the game; plus 30 seconds increment from move 1.
