The National High School Championship Starts in Atlanta

The 2016 National High School Chess Championship is being held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta starting tomorrow, Friday April 1st.  So far, there are 1,450 players registered, making this year’s event the 3rd biggest National High School Championship ever!  The total number of players is still 42 shy of the record breaking event held in Columbus, Ohio last year, but only six entries shy of the second best, that one held in Louisville, Kentucky in 2002. IM Andrew Tang from Wayzata High School, Plymouth, Minnesota and six other players rated over 2400 are among the 33 masters in the K-12 Championship Section.  In addition to the masters, this super strong Championship section also has 59 experts registered so far.
