Welcome to June 2024 edition of One Move at a Time, the show where we highlight people and organizations that are advancing our US Chess mission statement to Empower people, enrich lives, and enhance communities through chess. This month's guest is Mark Indermaur, the founder of the Indermaur Chess Foundation,  a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and US Chess affiliate that helps parents, teachers, and volunteers start chess clubs in North Carolina schools, libraries, and community centers. Mark is a volunteer chess coach and organizer with twelve years experience teaching chess to more than a thousand children.  He has run over 160 rated tournaments as a Senior Tournament Director and has been named North Carolina Chess Coach of the Year in 2016, 2020, and 2023. In May 2023, he was named the inaugural winner of the Andy Lerner Award for Excellence in Chess Education. In 2022, he was invited to serve on the US Chess “Chess in Education” committee and became the committee co-chair in 2023 along with Christina Mullinax.
