Grandmaster Maurice Ashley, a member of the US Chess Hall of Fame, will make a special appearance in the cross-cultural girls club on Dec 21, at 10 AM ET. Maurice will give a short lecture and Q+A, and then give his world renowned commentary on a series of blitz games played by the girls themselves.

The cross-cultural girls club began in the summer of 2020 with girls from Kenya and the USA, to foster cross-cultural networking during the global pandemic. Since then, girls from several other African countries have joined, including Uganda, Botswana, Malawi, Zambia and Namibia. The series of events are hosted by Jennifer Shahade for US Chess Women, GM Pontus Carlsson for Business Meets Kids & Chess and Judith Kiragu of the Lighthouse Chess Club, in Mombasa, Kenya.

Members of our girls club email list will receive the information. Please contact jshahade@uschess.org if you are a female US Chess member and would like to get the info for this week's class forwarded to you.

Find some previous editions of our club here. We will post a version of this class on YouTube for anyone who is not eligible or able to attend.
