The US Chess Girls Club had a spectacular 2021. Highlights included a team game and Q& A with the Botez sisters, meeting Judit Polgar in the largest ZOOM we've ever had, and expanding our partnership with girls from Kenya, Colombia and beyond. Girls were also able to meet in person for the first time in a long break of OTB chess tournaments, in both August at the Ruth Haring Tournament of National Champions, and in December in Orlando.

Our online club is continuing in 2022, and we start the year with a lesson from renowned coach and author Johan Hellsten, a regular coach for the US Chess School. He will be talking about Candidate Moves (also see WGM Katerina Nemcova's lesson on a related topic, Forcing Moves, on our YouTube Playlist.

On January 15th, Mental Game coach Benjamin Portheault will discuss nutrition, sleep and mindset and chess for our cross-cultural club, which brings girls together from the USA, Kenya, Colombia and beyond. Benjamin was also the translator for our popular Ladies Knight episode featuring Holocaust survivor and chess champion Isabelle Choko. This will be followed by a theme tournament in the Najdorf variation with commentary by Grandmaster Pontus Carlsson and two-time US Women's Champion and girls club host Jen Shahade.

US Chess Members who are eligible for the girls club should sign up here. Players of all ages and genders can enjoy our event highlights on YouTube.
