US Chess School: Training Tournaments

The United States Chess School runs Online Training tournaments to help young players around the nation get regular competition against their peers in slower time control games. The format of the competition is extremely flexible. You will be placed in a Round Robin tournament with a bunch of other players near your rating, and it's flexible as to when you play and what Internet site you play on. Each tournament lasts for three months, and you can participate even if you don't expect to complete all of the games. The requirements to be part of the tournament are to have a rating above 2000 USCF, or if you are Under 18 years old to have a rating above 1700.
