In addition, the victory moves him up another spot in the live rankings to number 3 in the world, his highest ever. At 2811.5, he’s a half rating point above former World Champion Vladimir Kramnik.
In the tournament, Wesley So is currently tied for 2nd place with 2 points out of 3. In rounds 1 and 2, he drew against Magnus Carlsen and Anish Giri.
In the Challenger section of Tata Steel, World Junior Champion Jeffery Xiong is also competing and is currently tied for 5th place. There are 10 rounds to go.
