US Chess Safe Play Guide for Tournament Directors, Organizers, and Participants Now Available

US Chess has just released “Safe Play: A Guide for Tournament Directors, Organizers, and Participants.” The document covers the purpose of Safe Play, training and reporting requirements, and how to implement Safe Play using real-life examples. This is a living document that will be updated regularly based on feedback from our members.

The Safe Play Policy was adopted January 1, 2024. Its purpose is to educate, provide reporting tools, and set policies for appropriate conduct in chess. NTD/IA Karen Pennock said, “I feel strongly that this is a step in the right direction. Safe Play is essential to TD training. Every single person in the chess community needs to take the training seriously.”

US Chess has zero tolerance for abuse and misconduct.
