A Pawn’s Journey, New Book by Elliott Neff, Debuts

Elliot Neff, member of the US Chess Scholastic Council and coach of the Uganda Women’s chess team at the recent Olympiad, has just released a new book, “A Pawn’s Journey: Transforming Lives One Move at a Time (Made for Success Publishing, Oct. 2018, 16.99).  The book tells the story of April, a disheartened teen who is introduced to the game of chess and mentored by a school counselor. Her mindset changes as she learns invaluable life lessons through the game of chess.

Robert Katende, Phiona Mutesi’s coach as featured in the Disney Movie, “Queen of Katwe” said, “A must-read for those who desire to understand the power of learning through setbacks.” Find out more about the book, and Elliott’s speaking tour, on his website ElliottNeff.com and the book website, A Pawns Journey.

Neff told CLO that he is particularly excited about his National Chess Day tournament and book signing on October 13 in Newcastle, WA to celebrate the book’s launch.  Look for news of Neff’s National Chess Day event on CLO and our social media channels, and share your own plans by emailing [email protected] or tagging @USChess on twitter or @US_Chess on instagram.
