  1. Amazing news following on the heels of the US Collegiate Chess Championship being held at the Marshall Chess Club on April 2nd and 3rd.

    • That was my reaction too… Either the organizers have a written and signed contract (and have made a deposit) on a site — or the venue is not confirmed. And Agon doesn’t have, umm, the most sterling of reputations.

It’s not easy to find a site in Manhattan for a large wedding “only” eight months in advance. And meeting planners can confirm the difficulty of finding a Manhattan meeting site for five consecutive weekdays, let alone three weeks. And if the playing site is not a hotel, will block-room rates be available at “nearby” hotels for non-players (e.g., press, guest broadcasters, etc.)?

It could well be that the venue will be split between two sites.
