Chess expert, Stanford grad, and NYU Law Student Rochelle Ballantyne joins Jennifer Shahade and the US Chess Women's girls class to talk about building a big center and using it to win for this episode of Class In Session. She also hosts a Q+A where she addresses getting back into chess after a layoff, her favorite books, and classism in chess.

Rochelle was one of the stars of the acclaimed documentary, Brooklyn Castle.

Rochelle was recently profiled in Reuters, sharing her inspiration and motivation to become the first Black American female chess master.

She also sat down with Chess Life Online for a Q+A in 2018 to discuss her relationship with chess and how representation in the game is important.
