Jennifer Pearson Hired as Governance Coordinator at US Chess

Jennifer Pearson
CROSSVILLE, TN: The US Chess Federation is pleased to announce the hiring of Jennifer Pearson for the newly-created position of Governance Coordinator. Pearson begins work on October 15, 2018 and US Chess welcomes her back to our organization; she had been an Editorial Assistant in the Publications (now called Communications) Department from 2006 through 2015. The Governance Coordinator plays a key role for US Chess by providing support to the Executive Board, Delegates, State Chapters and Committees. Just some of her duties are: Executive Board: Maintain Executive Board files, including preparing meeting minutes. Delegates: Communicate with State Chapters to obtain and maintain the master Delegate list. State Chapters: Communicate with state chapters about membership renewal and to answer general questions. Committees: Maintain committee lists in the US Chess membership database. Executive Director Carol B. Meyer states, “Building off our mission statement of ‘Empowering people through chess one move at a time,’ one of our most important organizational goals is to ‘continuously improve US Chess operations and member services.’ The Governance Coordinator is of crucial importance to fulfilling this goal, and I’m happy that Jennifer will be in this role for us.” Most recently, Pearson has been an Adult Education Instructor at Northeast Alabama Community College and a Security Officer at US Security Associates. During her time at US Chess, she had prime responsibility for creating the Delegates Call so she is most familiar with our governance matters. Kathleen Collins has been fulfilling many of the duties since 2016 that Jennifer Pearson will be assuming. Kathleen will be retiring before the end of the year, but during the transition US Chess members requiring governance assistance should contact Jennifer Pearson via email at Click here to show email address or by phone at 931.787.3425 beginning on October 15, 2018.
