Information Regarding Required Annual SafeSport Refresher Course

Initial SafeSport core certification is valid for one year from the completion date. Consequently, if you completed your core course last fall, it’s time to think about taking Refresher 1.

Refresher courses are required annually to maintain TD certification, and they must be taken within one year of the previous training completion date, with a 30-day grace period. (For example, if you completed your core training on October 1, 2023, your Refresher 1 course will need to be completed by October 31, 2024.) If this deadline is not met, your TD certification will be changed to inactive until the course is completed.

Please note that your one-year period resets to the date you completed your most recent course. Therefore, it’s recommended that you take the refresher close to your core course expiration date.

Instructions on how to access Refresher 1 are here. The cost is $9 annually using coupon code FSChessDisR1972723. Expect to spend approximately 30 minutes to complete the course. You can send a copy of your completion certificate to Melinda Matthews to expedite updating your member profile, or else look for your records to update within 14 days.
