An IM norm tournament (August 16-20) is underway at the Berkeley Chess Club with ten strong female competitors, including seven-time US Champion Irina Krush, who gave a pre-tournament simultaneous exhibition, where she won 19 games and drew two.

IM Annie Wang, fresh off her championship title in Bolivia, is also participating. Three-time US Women’s Champion WGM Anjelina Belakovskaia and Thalia Cervantes are also representing the U.S. in the groundbreaking event.
The first round featured five decisive games, including a nice combo executed by GM Krush.
