Position Overview

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Design Assistant to support our marketing and communications efforts. This is a Part Time / Remote position.

The ideal candidate has a strong eye for design, proficiency in graphic design software, and an ability to create engaging visuals for digital and print media. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the visual identity of US Chess and support initiatives that promote the game nationwide.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in print production, graphic design and digital assets, and content and workflow management.
  • Assist in designing digital and print materials, including social media graphics, event promotions, newsletters, brochures, and website assets.
  • Maintain brand consistency by following US Chess style guidelines and ensuring all materials align with branding standards.
  • Edit and enhance images, graphics, and videos for use across multiple platforms.
  • Create technically accurate images for the website, social media and email campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop creative concepts and campaigns.
  • Organize and manage design files, assets, and templates for efficient workflow.
  • Assist in preparing materials for publication, including pre-press setup for print materials.
  • Support the team in brainstorming and executing new design ideas for upcoming initiatives.
  • Maintain and update various internal ads to align with brand guidelines and current promotional needs.
     

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or working toward a degree) in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
  • Video editing and website design experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Notion or similar project management tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, layout, and typography skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of social media trends and best practices for visual content.
  • Knowledge of chess or interest in learning is a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
