Jerald Times recognized as 2021 Chess Educator of the Year

Renowned New York educator Jerald Times will be honored as the 2021 Chess Educator of the Year by the University of Texas-Dallas.

A virtual award ceremony will be held on March 9, and will include a presentation by Times titled Closing the Gap in Scholastic Chess. Guests are invited to reserve their spot in advance, as there will be limited virtual seating. Please RSVP by Friday, March 5 to to receive a confirmation with the Zoom link. The ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m. and will conclude at 8:00 with the award presentation.

Times is a National Master and former Harlem champion who's experience in chess education ranges from South African townships to his current role as director of chess at the national championship-winning Success Academy in New York. To learn more about Times, visit his honoree page.

Wow. That is an amazing accomplishment. I wish that more parents around the globe could be taught to pay chess i truly believe that chess it's a way of life not just a great game to enjoy. If only we could show the world and the black community how much a man like mr. Times. Can change the outlook on so many young lives. Am very proud and honored to know a champion like mr. Times.
