2023 Chess Journalist of America Awards

Writers, columnists, photographers and analysts from US Chess had much to celebrate at the annual Chess Journalists of America (CJA) meeting on August 2 in Grand Rapids. US Chess took home 27 awards, including two of the “big three” – John Hartmann won “Best Story of the Year” for his January 2023 “L’affaire Niemann,” while WGM Tatev Abrahamyan was awarded the “Best Column” prize in her first year of eligibility.

And congratulations to Dan Heisman, a chess federation member like me for over 50 years for winning two online instructional awards and to all the others not mentioned above. And to others I know--Jim Eade for his online interviews, Joshua Milton Anderson, president of the CJA,  with his Hall of Fame presentation. And to the Marshall Chess Club, of which I am a proud member, for its online newsletter. And to Adam Whitaker and Dylan Quercia, who I know from working with them, for their video awards. And to Mark Capron, the CJ editor, for his online articles. And to all the others that should be up here without having to go to a link. Great job!
