Know before you go:
All players must check in to chess control. If you are in the novice section and have not checked in before 9:30am, you will be dropped from the tournament. We do not sort by age. Event is open for all players and abilities. As an adult/senior, you may perhaps play against a young participant. Age does not matter in chess, only skill. Do not let appearances fool you as there are strong players of all ages! If you require special accommodations, please contact organizer so we can assist you.
If you are playing in the US Chess section, we will be following and abiding to all US Chess rules. The same rules applies to the Novice section, but with a few variations. Crusader Chess Club will offer a carbon copy of your notation sheet if you like, but the white copy is property of Crusader Chess and must be submitted after every game. All players will be required to notate their games and use a clock in the OPEN section. We have limited clocks to lend players so please bring your clocks. We have a couple of clocks for sale. The Novice section is not required to notate but is strongly encouraged to practice and try to fill out as much as possible. We can help you and guide you through that process if you need assistance. We are here to help!

You may bring a set if you wish to play in the skittles area. We have a limited number of clocks to lend to players. Clocks are responsibility of players. We have some clocks available for sale onsite. Notation sheets are provided, but we have some scholastic book notations sheets for sale as well. We always offer a seperate location for the players in between rounds to get some extra game play time or go over their moves with coaches or parents. The Tournament hall is closed to specators and only certified Tournament Directors or Crusader Chess Staff or VFW staff will be allowed in the Tournament playing hall during games. Please enjoy the ambiance of the VFW. Be advised that bad behavior and distruptions may result in the removal of your player from the tournament. Please be respectful to the staff and respect other patrons who are visiting the Post. Players are considered spectators when their games finish and must exit the play hall. There may arise a specific occasion that a TD may allow spectators, but we will announce this should we have the need and it is up to the TD’s discretion.
