Event Overview

EVENT & SCHEDULE: Master/Expert (above 1999, FIDE rated) , Reserve (1500-1999), Challengers (U1500), Senior (age 50+ as of 7/4/2025), Senior Reserve (U1700 age 50+ as of 7/4/2025) in a 2 or 3-day schedule.  USCF rated six-round swiss.  Registration:  7/4 – 8:30-9:45 am.  7/5 – 8:00 - 8:45 am.  Rounds: 3-day: 7/4 – 10 & 3, 7/5 – 10:30 & 4, 7/6 – 10 & 3.  2-day: 7/5 – 9, 11:15, 1:30, & 4, 7/6 – 10 & 3.  (2- and 3-day merge in round 4).  Time Controls: 3-day: G/90 +30 inc, 2-day: Rounds 1-3, G/61,d5; Rounds 4-6, G/90 +30 inc.

 

ENTRY FEES: $134, postmarked by 6/27/2025; $154 postmarked after 6/27/2025 and on site.  IMs/GMs free.  USCF membership required.  CalChess members receive a $5 discount on their entry fee (excluding reentries).  Entrants may play up one section (max 200 points) for $40.  Reentry after round 2 of the 3-day schedule, $75.  Byes: ½ point byes available in any round and must be requested before completion of the previous round.   ½ point byes for rounds 5 and 6 must be requested prior to the start of round 1 and may not be changed.  Maximum two ½ point byes.

 

PRIZES:    Master/Expert:    1st - $1,000 & trophy, 2nd - $700, 3rd - $500;   *U2200:  1st - $400, 2nd - $300, 3rd - $200
    Reserve:    1st - $850 & trophy, 2nd - $600, 3rd - $400;   *U1750:  1st - $375, 2nd - $275
    Challengers:    1st - $850 & trophy, 2nd - $600, 3rd - $400;   *U1250: 1st - $375, 2nd - $275;   U1000* - $200
    Senior:    1st - $850 & trophy, 2nd - $600, *U2000 - 1st - $375, 2nd $275     
    Senior Reserve:    1st - $850 & trophy, 2nd - $600,*U1400 1st - $375; 2nd $275      Trophy to top 65+, 70+, & 75+  (combined Senior sections).
    NOTE: Unrated players ineligible for asterisked (*) prizes.
