1st Burlington Bloom

The 1st Burlington Bloom will take place on March 23/24.

This event is a 2x multiplier in the 2024 New England Grand Prix. Full information about the Grand Prix can be found at newenglandchess.org

NOTE: The format has changed, instead of 4SS 90+30, we are doing a 5SS 55d5. 3 rounds on Saturday, 2 on Sunday. Merging sections and adding a class prize as well. 

Format: 5SS 55d5. USCF rated. 

Sections: Open

Entry fee: $35 for Open

Schedule: On-site registration 10:15-10:45 on Saturday. Rounds at 11, 2, 4 on Saturday. Rounds at 12, 3 on Sunday. 

Byes: limit one half-point bye in any round, must request before rd 2.

Location: University of Vermont, Old Mill 325. 94 University Place, Burlington VT 05405. 

Parking: I think the closest free parking is the UVM Medical lot. 41-43 South Prospect St.

Equipment: We have a decent amount of boards/clocks, but please bring your own if possible. 

Prizes: Open - $175, $100, $75. Top U1600 $100, top U1300 $50

Prizes will be distributed via check by mail, and prize winners will be required to fill out a W9 with UVM (and potentially other paperwork) to be eligible to receive their prizes. It may take up to 14 business days.  

This event will be a fundraiser for the UVM Chess Club. All excess proceeds from entry fees will directly fund club travel & entry to tournaments during the rest of the academic year.
