Event Overview

The UVM Candy Cane Classic will take place on January 25/26. Candy canes will be freely available for general consumption throughout the tournament.

This event will be a fundraiser for the UVM Chess Club. All excess proceeds from entry fees will directly fund club travel & entry to tournaments during the rest of the academic year.

The payment portal for entry fees will be available closer to the event. If you fill out this form before then (please do!), we will email you once the payment portal is available.

Format: 4SS 90+30. USCF rated (you can purchase a membership here https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess)

Sections: Open & U1700.

Entry fee: $45 for Open, $35 for U1700 if sent on/before January 23. $5 increase for onsite registration.

Schedule: On-site registration 9:15-9:45am on Saturday. Rounds 10am, 3pm on both Sat/Sun.

Byes: A bye lets you skip a round and still get half a point. There is a limit of one half-point bye in any round, must request before start of round 2.

Parking: The Jefford's parking lot is quite close to Marsh Life and free on weekends. If you map to Jefford's Hall, the parking lot is on the southeast side of the building. Here is a google map pin as well: https://maps.app.goo.gl/6gDoRjpVMgkJfgNj6

Equipment: We have a decent amount of boards/clocks, but please bring your own if possible.

Prizes: $500 guaranteed! Open - $200, $100. U1700 - $125, $75.

Prizes will be sent out by UVM via check after the event. Prize winners will be required to fill out a W9 with UVM to collect prizes.
