$5,000 Five-Round Open Section Classical Chess Tournament Hosted by the UMass Amherst Chess Club ($10,000 for entire event)

 

Prize money

U1800 1st - $1500, 2nd - $1000, 3rd - $600, U1600 (1st) - $400, U1400 (1st) - $250

U1200 1st - $700, 2nd - $400, 3rd - $150

Entry fee:

U1800 $90 pre-registration, $100 on-site. $5 less for unrated players.

U1200 $40 pre-registration, $50 on-site. $5 less for unrated players.

Registration begins at 8:45 am and ends at 9:30 am.

Time control: G/90;d5.

Round times: Saturday 10 am, 2 pm, 5:30 pm, Sunday 10 am, 2 pm.

Bye: One half-point bye round may be scheduled using the registration form.

Details: The UMass Amherst Chess Club is proud to continue our annual spring classical chess tournament! It is a five-round two-day tournament from February 1-2 and will be hosted in the Student Union Ballroom at 41 Campus Center Way, Amherst, MA 01002. We expect people from all over and of all ages to compete! Please bring your own sets and chess clocks as we anticipate a shortage. Parking is free for the entire event. Unrated players are eligible for entry.

Please note the prizes above are based on 120 players and a valid USCF membership is required to play.

Once the above form has been filled out, you will be emailed a secured UMass link where you can pay the pre-registration fee. We will follow up on email with further steps

      In order to receive your winnings, you must register yourself as a vendor with the University of Massachusetts Amherst. We will provide the link to the vendor site once winners are confirmed. Once filled out, the University of Massachusetts Amherst will pay your winnings, however it may take longer than 3-4 weeks. This is the only way the University of Massachusetts Amherst Chess Club can pay your winnings.
