Event Overview
All are welcome to join us for Indy's largest weekly chess night at the Latvian Community Center!
Register ahead of time at indychess.org/events!
1) USCF-RATED TOURNAMENT ROOM
There's a 3-round, Swiss system, G/25+5 USCF-rated tournament (typically two or three sections determined by rating) in a separate room from about 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
Arrive by 6:15pm if you want to be paired in round one (if you are a regular and you pre-register online, just text Mike if you can't arrive by 6:15pm so we know to pair you and start the clock).
Games affect both USCF regular and quick ratings.
Must be a member of USCF to play rated chess (new.uschess.org/join-us-chess). Make sure to provide your USCF ID# to [email protected] prior to the event, or arrive by 6:15pm to be paired in round one.
First visit = free (but arrive by 6:15p)! Other visits are $5 members/$10 non-members (club membership is $50/yr).
2) KIDS' WORKSHOP AND QUADS
There will be a kids' game review workshop from 6:30-7:00, followed by kids casual play from 7:00-8:00pm.
Kids can earn medals, and eventually cash in medals for trophies.
Kids typically play in "quads" after the lesson, meaning we place them in groups of four according to their level and they play each kid in the quad one time! First Tuesday of each month we play "Bughouse" (two-on-two chess).
Participation in the kids' area costs $5 (members) / $10 (non-members), but the first visit is free (just show up).
Pay at the door by 6:30p, or save time and register in advance at indychess.org/events.
Parents are requested to stay the first visit, but future visits can leave and return by 7:50pm.
Adult casual play (13+ years old) will also be available 6:30-9:30pm, so come make some friends and meet new opponents.
Adults pair themselves for pick-up games.
Sets and clocks are provided (you can bring your own as well), and any time control is allowed as you desire.
Adult Casual section is always free; just show up and play pick-up games!
The rooms are wheelchair accessible.
All chess equipment is provided (though feel free to bring your own).
There is a cash-only drinks vending machine, but many players bring a water bottle as the water fountain is broken.
