Texas Chess/ChessKid Online Scholastic Chess Championships

7-SS, G/15 + 5, US Chess Rated

Current US Chess membership, ending 11/30/2020 or after, required. US Chess November Rating Supplement, Regular ratings used for section eligibility and pairings.  Open only to students from Pre-K to 12th grade who reside and attend school in Texas, including homeschoolers. 

Ten sections based on current school grade, each play only one day. 

Saturday 10am Central:  K-1 Championship, K-1 U500, 2-3 Championship, 2-3 U750, 4-5 Championship, 4-5 U950;

Sunday 10 am Central:  6-8 Championship, 6-8 U1100, 9-12 Championship, 9-12 U1250.  

Unrated players may play only in Championship Sections except for K-1 where they are allowed in either K-1 Championship or K-1 Unrated.  Players will be assigned a special one-time use ChessKid account (not their normal account) so a player’s "normal" ChessKid rating will not be affected.

Some of the games will be transmitted and analyzed by GM Julio Sadorra and FM Mike Klein, live on Chesskid.com!

Prizes:   Top 10 in each of the 10 sections will receive a custom tournament plaque, personalized with name! Top three in each Championship section will also receive a chesskid.com Premium membership.

EF:  $35 by 11/2, $50 by 11/10.  No entries accepted after November 10.

Rounds: Start on both days at 10am Central, ASAP for subsequent rounds.  Participants play only one day.

There will be a “warm-up” G/5,  free event on November 7, 2020.  This free event is only open to those registered prior to 11/2 and is highly encouraged so that kids and families can practice using the ChessKid.com "Fast Chess" server, learn how to register for the event, test their internet and browser, and other areas of troubleshooting.
