US Chess Junior Grand Prix!

May 9-11, Florida (Bughouse & Blitz:  May 8)

SuperNationals VIII

Format: 7SS, G/90 d10.  3 Divisions, 26 Sections

High School Division:  K-12 Championship, K-12 U1900, K-12 U1600, K-12 U1200, K-12 U800, K12 Unrated.  Middle School Division:  K-8 Championship, K-8 U1700, K-8 U1400, K-8 U1100, K-8 U900, K-8 U700, K-8 Unrated.  Elementary Division:  K-6 Championship, K-6 U1400, K-6 U1200, K-6 U1000, K-6 U800, K-6 U600, K-6 Unrated, K-5 Championship, K-3 Championship, K-3 U1000, K-3 U600, K-1 Championship, K-1 U500/Unrated.  “Playing up” is allowed.  Unrated players may play either Championship or Unrated sections only.  April rating supplement will be used. 

Playing Site:  Orange County Convention Center – West Concourse, 9800 International Drive, Orlando FL 32819.  Tournament Hotels:  Hyatt Regency Orlando, Rosen Centre, Rosen Plaza, Hilton Orlando (all connected to OCCC). See tournament website for reservation links and details.

Byes:  Up to two 1/2-point byes available in any round, if requested with entry or on site by two hours prior to the start of Rd. 1.  Zero-point byes available any round.

Scoring:  Team score = total of top four (minimum two) finishers from each school per grade. Each section has its own team awards.  First place individual and team, including ties, in each Championship section will be recognized as National Champions.

Opening Ceremony, all attendees:  Fri. 11 AM.

Playing Schedule:  Round start times: Fri. 1 PM & 6 PM, Sat. 9 AM, 1:30 PM, & 6 PM, Sun. 9 AM & 2 PM. 

K-1 Sections - Special Playing Schedule: Fri. 1:30 PM & 5:30 PM, Sat. 9:30 AM, 1:30 PM, & 5:30 PM, Sun. 9:30 AM & 1:30 PM.

Awards (K-12, K-8, K-6, K-5 sections): Sun. 6:30 PM.  Awards (K-3 sections):  Sun. 6 PM.  Awards (K-1 sections):  Sun. 5:30 PM.

Entry Fee: $100/participant postmarked or online by 3/24, $150 postmarked or online by 4/14, $225 online by 4/28, $350 online by 11 AM Eastern Wednesday, 5/7.  $40 fee for roster or section changes after 4/14 or any onsite changes.

Registration:  Online registration closes 11 AM Eastern Wednesday, 5/7.  NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION.  Registration by mail must be postmarked no later than 4/14.  Registration postmarked after 4/14 will be returned unprocessed. NO PHONE REGISTRATION. 

Awards: Awards to top individuals & top teams in each grade. Every player receives a commemorative medal! Full list of awards on tournament info page.

Side Events: Bughouse: Thurs. 11 AM, Registration onsite only, Thurs. 9-10 AM, $50/team. Three sections:  K-12, K-8, and K-6.  Bughouse Awards: Top 5 Teams in each section. Blitz: Thurs. 5 PM, Reg. onsite until 4 PM. Five sections:  K-12 Championship, K-12 Under 1800, K-8 Championship, K-6 Championship, K-3 Championship.  Blitz EF: $50 by 4/14, $80 after or at site. Blitz Awards: Awards in all five sections.  Full list of awards on tournament info page.
