Sunday Chess - Monthly Cincinnati Tournament

Community & Monthly Tournament – Held on the 3rd Sunday of the Month

• 10am - Start Time.

• NEW - 5:30pm – BLITZ Tournament.

SUNDAY CHESS  is a day full of chess events and chess activities, held once a month.

1.) Community in the Skittles Room. Starting at 10am, enjoy your day playing chess. Hang out and play casual chess, it’s free, analyze tournament games with players, watch TV and eat lunch.  Chess Merch and Equipment are available for purchase. We sell light refreshments.  All the chess sets are provided.

2.) Tournament in the Playing Hall.     **NEW START TIME 10am.**   Play in the Sunday Chess Tournament. 3-Round Swiss. Play 3 Games in your section. Entry Fee: $30. Time Control is G/60; d5. Each player receives 60 minutes with a 5 second delay. There are prizes. 
After all the players have registered, we divide them into section groups according to their rating: 8-Player Sections. 6-Player Sections. 4-Player Sections.

3.) BLITZ Tournament.  Starts at 5:30pm. Sign up and register to play in Blitz by 5:15pm. The entry fee is $20.  Anyone can sign up and Play.  It’s unrated. Touch Move. Open to Everyone, this allows players from around the city to also play.

BLITZ FORMAT. It’s unrated. Touch Move.  5-Round Swiss. Play 5 Games. Time Control: 5-0 minutes. Each player receives 5 minutes.  1st, 2nd and 3rd place Prizes. All entries are returned as prizes for this 1st kickoff Tournament.   All the chess sets and clocks are provided.

4.) Chess Lectures.  COMING SOON.  Lectures will start at 7:00pm.

We are working behind the scenes setting up a series of chess lectures.

Sunday Chess Tournament Entry Fee: $30.00. 

Time Control: G/60  d/5.  Each Player receives 60 minutes with a 5-second delay.

Tournament Format: USCF-Rated. 3 Round Swiss. Play 3 Games against players in your section.

• After all players have registered, we divide the players into section groups: 8 player sections. 6 player sections. 4 player sections.
• Sections are arranged by rating using the latest monthly published ratings.
• 1 half-point bye is allowed if declared before round 1.
• Current US Chess membership is required.
