US CHESS MEMBERSHIPS: May be obtained through Crusader Chess  prior to event and onsite  at 10am or by the following link https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess prior to the event.   If you have a large amount of players you wish to register please send us a spreadsheet with pertinant info including us chess member ID and expiration date to our email indicated.

Know before you go:

All players must check in to chess control. If you are in the novice section and have not checked in before 1030am you will be dropped from the tournament.  We do not sort by age. Event is open for all players and abilities.  You may be playing against a child or young adult as an Adult or Senior.  Age doesnt matter only skill and dont let appearances fool you we have some pretty strong players of all ages!  If you require special accomodations please contact organizer so we can assist you.

If you are playing in the US Chess section we will be following US Chess rules as always. ( as well as novice section mostly with a few variations for novice players)  Crusader Chess Club will offer a carbon copy of your notation sheet if you like but the white copy is property of Crusader Chess and must be submitted after every game. Therefore, all players will be required to notate their games and use a clock in OPEN section. We have limited clocks to lend players so please bring your clocks. We have a couple of clocks for sale. Novice section is not required to notate but strongly encouraged to practice and try to fill out as much as possible. We can help you and guide you through that process if you need assistance. We are here to help!
If you plan on registering we advise you to register now by texting or email [email protected] 915.256.7783 or QR CODE.
There will be no elimination. You will play all rounds regardless of win or loss. There will not be lunch provided and we will not be stopping for lunch. We suggest you bring a packed lunch or some snacks. We will be playing straight through. There are numerous locations of restaurants and fast food choices close by if you have someone to pick it up for you. We do allow uber deliveries but please refer them to front desk not play hall.
Onsite Check in for players is at 930am to 10am only if space is still available. Player check in is at 10am. All players must check into Chess Control.
1st round starts promptly at 11am.

Equipment:

We follow US Chess Guidelines for what players are responsible for. However, we realize we have many novice players learning the ropes. For this reason we will provide a complete chess set for you to play on, You may bring a set if you wish to play in the skittles area. We have a limited number of clocks to lend to players. Clocks are responsibility of players and we have some for sale if you like onsite.  Notation sheets are provided but we have some scholastic book notations sheets for sale as well.  We recommend the US CHESS sales website if you would like to purchase different items www.uscfsales.com

Offical Rules of Chess:

All  US CHESS players must be aware of the US Chess Rules which maybe found :

www.uscfsales.com/us-chess-federation-s-official-rules-of-chess-seventh-edition-2024

Skittles:

We always offer a seperate location for the players in between rounds  to get some extra game play time or go over their moves with coaches or parents. This location is inside the Library as the Tournament hall is closed to specators and only certified Tournament Directors or Crusader Chess Staff will be allowed in the Tournament playing hall during games. Please enjoy the ambiance of the library events and take advantage of their chess books we have been growing for your reading  pleasure. Please be advised,  bad behavior and distruptions in the libary may result in the removal of your player from the tournament. Please be respectful to the staff and the location and respect other patrons who are visiting the library. No running or loud noises will be tolerated.  Players are considered spectators when their games finish and must exit the play hall.  There may arrise a specific ocasion that a TD may allow spectators but we will announce this should we have the need and is up to TD discretion.

Park:

We have a beautiful park right next to us. We understand that you may want to get some fresh air and go check it out. The kids will for sure love the playground. Please be advised we cannot go outside to get you to tell you when the next round is up and ready to go.  You are responsible to get to every round on time. We will start and you will be placed on a clock. As soon as all players in your section are done playing in your section it will be paired up for the next round.
