Format: 4SS, G/40;+5 (4-round Swiss, Game in 40 minutes with a 5-second bonus per move). One section unless 32 players or more (see bottom of page for details)

SCHEDULE

  • Round 1 - 10:00am
  • Round 2 - 11:45am
  • Lunch break - 1:30pm (CHICK FIL A and CONVENIENCE STORE IN BUILDING. Convenience Store and Chick Fil A open at 11am).
  • Round 3 - 2:00pm
  • Round 4 -- 3:45pm
  • Prizes - 5:30pm (ASAP).

  • Early bird entry fee: $20 (registered by Wednesday, Nov. 19th)
  • Regular Entry: $25 (register before 9am the day of the tournament)
    •  The building opens at 9:30am! Players may try to register between 9:30am-9:40am; however, advanced registration is highly encouraged!
    • Need to pay cash? Email tournament director at [email protected] for address to mail cash/checks.
    • Other payment options: Paypal the tournament director at [email protected] or Venmo @nathzeig the entry fee amount along with player details (name, email address, USCF ID)

  • 408 Lancaster Dr, Shippensburg, PA 17257
  • Room 119 in the Ceddia Union Building in Shippensburg University
  • If you enter from the side with UPS, you will have to take the stairs/elevator one floor up
  • Free parking: Park in the C-7 parking lot (link to parking map: https://www.ship.edu/globalassets/visit/parkingmap.pdf)
    • C-7 is the lot opposing Luhrs Performing Arts Center. That will provide a good landmark.

  • This tournament is ONE section, unless we have more than 32 players. If more than 32 players, we will split the sections in two -- Open Section and U1300 Section. Additionally, the Top U1200 prizes will become 1st and 2nd place prizes for the U1300 section in the case of more than 32 players in this tournament.
  • This is a fundraiser for the Shippensburg University Chess Club. All proceeds go directly towards club expenses for collegiate tournaments. Such as the Pan-American Intercollegiate Chess Championship (https://news.ship.edu/2025/02/04/ships-chess-team-earns-fifth-place-in-championship-tournament/)
  • USCF Membership is required for this tournament. Email us at [email protected] if you want us to process your membership for a $3 discount since we are an affiliate.
