RVA Pieces Rated Ladder Round 14

Every other week, RVA Pieces hosts the next round of its USCF rated ladder. Each round consists of a single classical game.

Location

Games will take place in the community room at Carytown Publix. The community room is located on the 1st floor, downstairs from the Publix Café. It can be reached directly from the bottom level of the parking deck.

Time

In-person registration takes place between 6:00 PM and 6:25 PM. Games start promptly at 6:30 PM.

Format

• 1 game with a time control of G/60;d10 (60 minutes per player, with a 10-second delay per move)
• Players are paired primarily by rating order, with the aim of matching each player with someone close to their rating. For example, the highest-rated player is typically paired with the second-highest-rated player.
• Players’ scores do not carry over from one round of the ladder to the next.

Eligibility

• Open to players of all ages and skill levels.
• Membership to USCF is required. If you’re not already a USCF member, or if you need to renew your membership, we can help you do so on-site. Please arrive at 6:00 PM if you need to join USCF or renew your membership, as the process takes a few minutes.
• Each player is expected to take chess notation during the game.

Registration

• Online registration is available on Chess Nut. You can also register in-person at the event. In-person registration takes place between 6:00 PM and 6:25 PM. Games start promptly at 6:30 PM. If you need to join USCF or renew your membership, please arrive at 6:00 PM.
• An entry fee of $5 goes to support RVA Pieces. For in-person registration, payment can be made by Venmo or with cash.

Additional Details

• USCF rules apply, which means that touch move is in effect.
• Publix offers convenient parking and is easily accessible from the surrounding area. Restrooms are available, and refreshments are available for purchase.
