The Random Openings Unrated Rapid

FORMAT

• Mystery openings: Start each round from a random opening at this casual tournament! Games will begin 2-4 moves into a known book opening, chosen from the table below. This is not Chess960, i.e., pieces are not shuffled and standard castling rules apply.
• 5-Round Swiss: G/20+5, $20 entry fee by 11:59 pm on 11/29/25, $25 after that
• Open section: Unrated, open to all players

PRIZES

• Open section: Money prizes from 80% of entry fees

SCHEDULE

• Onsite registration: 9:40-9:55 am
• Round 1: 10:00 am
• Round 2: 11:00 am
• Round 3: 12:45 pm
• Round 4: 1:45 pm
• Round 5: 2:45 pm

REGISTRATION

• Online registration is open until 9:45 am on Sunday, November 30th.
• Onsite registration ends 5 minutes before round 1. Players registering later will receive a 0-point bye.
