REQUIREMENTS: This tournament is open to scholastic players in grades K-8 with USCF Ratings under 1400. All players must have a U.S. Chess Federation membership. You can register for one here: https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess
SECTIONS:
- ELITE: Top 12–18 highest-rated players. The number of players in the Elite Section will be determined by the number of entries.
- OPEN: For all other players
FORMAT: 4-round Swiss system. Time control: G/30 d5 (approximately 1 hour per game).
CLOCKS: Top section will be using clocks. Open section games will be played without clocks, but if a game runs too long, a clock will be added to ensure the next round starts on time.
AWARDS: Trophies for each section
ENTRY FEES:
- $30 — Register by December 7th
- $35 — Register by December 13th
- Registration is limited to 50 players. No on-site registration. Please register online by Saturday, December 13th.
- Please verify that the player’s name appears on the registration list. A final information email will be sent close to the tournament date.
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
- Round 1: 1:00 PM
- Round 2: 2:00 PM
- Round 3: 3:00 PM
- Round 4: 4:00 PM
- Award Ceremony: 5:00 PM (or as soon as all rounds in a section conclude)
RULES & CONDUCT
- U.S. Chess Federation Tournament Rules
- No talking during games
- Practice good sportsmanship: shake hands before and after each game.
- For any questions or disputes, raise your hand and a tournament director will assist.
TOUCH-MOVE RULE
- If you touch a piece, you must move it.
- If you touch an opponent’s piece and can legally capture it, you must do so.
- Illegal moves result in a time penalty, and the move must be corrected using the same piece if possible.
