Our Team:
NM Daniel Lowinger is a USCF Life Master with a peak USCF rating of 2370. He is a certified TD and the winner of many local tournaments, such as our inaugural 2023 Independence Day Open. He is also a school teacher with a Master's in Education and over 20 years experience teaching children K-12. He is the author of 2 published books on chess: The 3...Qd8 Scandinavian and Opening Originals. He was Co-founder and Scholastic Director at the Chess Club of Fairfield County in Connecticut, coaching scholastic teams to regional and national championships. He is regularly sought as a private coach and consultant, and has appeared as a guest on podcasts such as the Chess Angle, the Pequot Library book series, and others. His specialty is scaffolding material and breaking down complex topics so his students can understand them clearly.
NM Arnav Gupta is co-champion at K-12 December 2024 Grade Nationals and former VA state champion. He is passionate about chess and has years of experience teaching chess. His main focus is on teaching how to play attacking chess. He is part of the TJHSST chess team that recently won the VA state championship.
CM Owen Levine is candidate master with a peak USCF rating of 2139. He is top 50 nationally for his age. Over the course of his chess career, Owen has finished within the top 5 at Nationals and at States championships numerous times. He is part of the TJHSST chess team that recently won the VA state championship.
Ameya Haldankar has been playing chess for over 8 years. He is currently a certified local tournament director and has directed more than 10 USCF rated tournaments. He is a USCF expert and has a peak USCF rating of 2036. He was a 3rd place winner at 2021 Grade 7 National grade Championship. He is Top 1.2% of juniors in the US.
Brighton Roy is a Class B Chess player who has played competitive chess for over 10 years. He has more than 2 years of experience teaching kids. He has played in many State, National, and Super National tournaments. His team was awarded VA State championship for 6 years!
