I became enamored with chess in high school when I visited our local chess club and played GM Igor Ivanov. In our first game he checkmated me in just 11 moves! I studied vigorously after that loss to hopefully one day beat him.
I joined the U.S. Army as a combat medic when I was 17 years old (delayed training).
In 2009 I became a Tournament director so my hometown of St. George could have US Chess rated events. I also wanted to play in the rated events myself.
I enjoy teaching chess and instilling my love for the game for the next generation of players.
I achieved the National Master title in 2015 and the FIDE Arbiter title in 2018.
I currently live in St. George, Utah.
