Pawnstormers Toledo Back to School Sunday Scholastic (September)

Join Pawnstormers at beautiful Maumee Valley Country Day School for another exciting event in our scholastic series! Whether an experienced player or a first-timer interested in checking out the world of competitive chess, any K-12 student with a U.S. Chess membership is is eligible to register. The tournament will feature a silent, comfortable playing hall and a nearby, expansive area with ample seating for parents, coaches and other guests to await their players.

Details:

Check-in: 10:15-11:00 a.m.

Format: Four-round Swiss; one half-point bye is available with advance notice to tournament director.

Round Times:

Round 1: 11:15 a.m.

Round 2: 12:30 p.m.

Round 3: 1:45 p.m.

Round 4: 3:00 p.m.

Sections: There will be multiple sections. Players will be divided according to their published US Chess ratings.

Time Control: G/30, d5 (30 minutes per side with a five-second delay before the clock starts each move)

Entry Fee: $30

All players must be accompanied by a responsible adult for the duration of the tournament.

Chess sets will be provided, but players must bring their own clocks and know how to operate them.

Trophies will be awarded to the top finishers in each section.
