Event Overview

Join us for a series of dual-rated chess games every Tuesday in November at the Downtown Manchester YMCA. Sharpen your skills, meet other players, and get your games rated by the U.S. Chess Federation.

Event Dates: Tuesdays, November 4, 11, and 18. Maybe a bonus meeting for casual games Nov 25th.

Event Details

  • Time: Tuesdays at 6:00 PM
  • Location: Studio A, 2nd floor, Downtown Manchester YMCA
  • Format: One dual-rated game each evening. 
  • Time Control: G/45;+5 (45 minutes per side with a 5-second increment).
  • USCF Rated: U.S. Chess Federation membership is required to play.

Registration and Age Requirements Advance registration is mandatory. Sign up online at the link below or in person at the YMCA front desk.

  • All ages are welcome.
  • Kids 12 and up may attend unsupervised, but their parent or guardian must create an account on the YMCA website and sign a digital waiver beforehand.
  • Kids 11 and under must be supervised by a parent or guardian for the duration of the event.

Schedule

  • 6:00 PM: Check-in, setup, and pre-game discussion.
  • 6:30 PM: Check-in closes. Pairings are finalized.
  • 6:45 PM: Game begins.
  • Post-game review and discussion in skittles room

Important Notes

  • You must arrive by 6:30 PM to be paired for games. If you expect to be late, you must contact the organizer in advance.
  • Byes: You can request up to two half-point byes in advance. Additional 0-point byes are also allowed. No-shows will receive a forfeit loss.
  • Entry Fee: $10 for non-YMCA members. Free for Granite YMCA members.
  • Prizes: The winner of the tournament will receive a full refund of their entry fee. Token prizes will also be awarded to top players rated under 1000 and 1500.

Parking:

  • Limited metered street parking is available.
  • A parking garage is located one block away at 2-98 Plaza Dr., Manchester (parking can be validated at the Y front desk).

Accessibility:

  • An elevator is available from street level (ring the buzzer for assistance). The event is on the second floor.
