Venue: Mount Vernon Rec Center – Multi-Purpose Room 1. The center has recently been renovated and features state-of-the-art facilities including a gym, two skating rinks, an indoor pool, and a rock-climbing wall.

Entry & Donations

This tournament is FREE for all US Chess members in grades K–12.

An active US Chess membership is required — you can join or renew here.

The event is limited to 32 players, so please register in advance to secure your spot and help us plan pairings and sections.

We welcome voluntary donations to help cover the cost of room rental, awards, and other tournament-related expenses.

All contributions are tax-deductible and may be made online or onsite at the event.

Format

  • 3-round quad (final section may be a small Swiss)
  • Time control: G/25; d5 (25 minutes per player, 5-second delay)
  • Rated by US Chess

Awards

  • 🏆 Trophies for each quad winner
  • 🎖️ Medals for all other participants
  • 📺 Game Analysis Feature: Select games will be analyzed on the MVP Chess YouTube channel. To be considered, players should submit their scoresheets at the end of the event.

Schedule

  • Check-in: 12:45 PM
  • Round 1: 1:00 PM
  • Rounds begin as soon as prior games finish
  • Awards Ceremony: immediately after the last round
  • Expected finish: no later than 4:00 PM

  • Parents/guardians should stay on-site during the event
  • Please show respect for opponents, staff, and the venue
